The Walkerville Centre
for Creative Arts (WCCA) is a program for visual and performing
arts students in the Windsor - Essex County region. Courses are
taught at all grades of secondary school in dance (ballet, modern
and jazz); drama (theatre acting, tech and music theatre); vocal
music; piano; orchestral instruments; guitar; studio arts (drawing,
painting, sculpture and printmaking) and media arts (video, animation,
photography and digital animation). Students must audition for the
program. An application with audition requirements is available
on-line or at your local public high school or elementary school.
You must be enrolled in a high school in the Greater Essex County
District School Board to participate in this program. All courses
are fully accredited Arts courses listed in the Ontario Ministry
of Education curriculum. This program is for students who have exceptional
abilities in the arts and who are self-motivated.

History
This program
was initiated by the Windsor Board of Education in 1989. It
has been continued by the Greater Essex County District School
Board and has grown from 171 students to 378 in 2002. All
courses are taught in facilities at Walkerville Collegiate
- 2100 Richmond Street, Windsor Ontario N8Y 1L4. For additional
