The Greater
Essex County District School Board serves 9 communities
in Southwestern Ontario with 61 elementary schools, 16
secondary schools, an alternative secondary school program,
an extensive adult and continuing education program and
5 agency schools. A full listing, along with essential
information and location maps can be found by selecting
from the Schools menu at the top (left)
of this page.
- All of our schools offer a full range of programs designed
to meet the Ontario curriculum as well as addressing
the individual needs of all students. For more information
you can look under the Programs section
on the website menu or contact the Board @ 519-255-3200.
- Each school is a member of a “family”,
which consists of a secondary school and the elementary
schools that are within its designated boundary area.
The family of schools concept is an established organizational
component within our communities and provides, among
other things, program continuity from junior kindergarten
to grade 12.
- The total student enrolment in our schools for the
2008-09 year is 35, 350 (22,567 students in JK-8 and
12,783 secondary school students).
- The Greater Essex County
District School Board considers its schools to be assets
to their communities. We encourage public use of our
gyms, classrooms and school grounds
(see Community Use page).
